Disappearing Downs turns attention to a changing countryside in this episode of A Taste of the Country. Its evocative title raises questions about the landscapes of southern England and the pressures faced by familiar rural places. Originally included in the 1992 first series, this archive programme is an intriguing choice for anyone interested in the history, character and conservation of Britain's downland.
